The third day of Beats for Love: A tribute to the fans, charity and an endless party under the baton of the Brazilian Alok
The Beats for Love festival has completed three of the four days of its 10th anniversary year. And the mood of the fans in the area seemed to correspond to looking at the calendar – it was festive. The atmosphere escalated until the night’s performance by the 4th best DJ on the planet, Brazilian Alok, after which the crowd moved to the other stages. In addition, visitors continued to generously support nine-year-old Isabel and seven-month-old Dorian as part of the Beats for Charity project.
As the weekend approaches, visits to the Dolní Vítkovice area have traditionally increased. Slightly over 40,000 people arrived under the blast furnaces on Friday. “It’s always nice get over that magical border. And I believe that on Saturday we will also attack the number that starts with five,” said festival director Kamil Rudolf, who is already looking forward to the final day of Beats for Love. In Ostrava, the world-famous David Guetta, one of the most famous musicians in the world, will perform, as well as the extremely popular duo Chase & Status in the Czech Republic.
Even before them, the Italian project Meduza shone on the main LOVE stage with their hit “Piece Of Your Heart”. Next up was Andy C, who brought a fair bit of D&B from Great Britain. And he was excited about the Ostrava fans. “I didn’t want to end at all. I was thinking in my head: I wish I could go out tomorrow and do it all over again…,” said the 48-year-old producer in the backstage.
He was followed by the mentioned Brazilian Alok, who is in 4th place in the international DJs ranking. And together with the audience, he created an energy that could power even a larger county town. In addition, most of the Beats for Love visitors were not satisfied with the end of Alok’s show and headed to the genre scenes. There they danced until almost dawn.
At D&B Forge by Ostrava!!! Friction, Sota or ShockOne moved the crowd on stage. He confirmed that drum and bass is at home in the Czech Republic and Australia. In addition, the artist himself was struggling with health problems, but the sight of the packed area under the stage forced him to perform – even if he was sitting on a bar stool sometimes. “These are exactly the stories that make our festival so popular and successful. We would understand if ShockOne refused to play because of his health, but he came and delivered a unique show,” Kamil Rudolf rejoiced.
For a change, Will Atkinson played his show on the Future by Proud stage with a torn calf muscle, but according to him, the rioting fans won over the leg pain. He sai this despite the fact that the organizers had to transfer him from the plane to the car in a wheelchair. And the Dutchman Ferry Corsten described the area in Dolní Vítkovice as the most beautiful area in which he has ever played. Coming from a man who has been on the scene since 1991, that’s high praise.
A unique beer and flower for women
All performers from the fiery D&B Forge by Ostrava!!! stage received a special gift from the organizers. Thanks to stage manager Jakub Havlák’s passion for brewing, they got a special festival beer. And everyone had their own etiquette. “It was a perfect move. All the musicians were excited about it. We want them to remember their visit to Ostrava and be happy to come back. Something similar to own etiquette is a small thing, but it can help tremendously,” smiled Havlák.
Stage Harmony House Square belonged to women again – the highlight of the program were British triumvirate of Jess Bays, Jenn Getz & Alfie and Hannah Wants. A kind of “women’s festival day” is another gem in the Beats for Love program. In addition, each woman will receive a flower from the organizers after her gig. And Sonny Wharton, a compatriot of the aforementioned artists, who performed at Harmony House Square on Thursday, wedged himself incognito for a few tens of minutes among the “regular visitors” before he headed for the airport.
Together united for Isabel and Dorian
An integral part of the festival, the Beats for Charity fundraiser, continued on Friday. This time, people can help nine-year-old Isabel Kavalová from Petrovice u Karviná and seven-month-old Dorian Příborský from Havířov.
Visitors could and still can contribute inside the area at the stand, or through a QR code on the website and social networks. “The locally focused charity has accompanied Beats for Love almost since its first year. It is a fixed part of our program. We are happy that people stop by the stand, order a beer, for example, or send money digitally. We thank them for that. And we want to ask those who have not yet donated to a good cause to do so during the last day of this year,” announced the director of Beats for Love, Kamil Rudolf.
On Saturday, fans can expect an exciting end to the jubilee 10th year. And the program on the main LOVE stage suggests that the visitor record could be broken. The singer Becky Hill is this year’s comet, when she recorded the hit “Disconnect” together with the duo Chase & Status. She might also drop it in Ostrava, because Chase & Status will perform right after it. And then comes the highlight of the program, a show by French superstar David Guetta, which the organizers got after almost eight years of negotiations.
