The biggest Czech festival opens its doors! Beats for Love is celebrating its 10th birthday
Rewrite the history! A paraphrase of the famous statement of the commentator Robert Záruba is appropriate. Beats for Love is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is opening its doors today, July 3rd. The first round of decade will be spectacular – with the most well-attended program in history headlined by French superstar David Guetta, with a brand new look of some stages, the launch of a cashless payment system and significant changes to the venue.
The tenth edition of Beats for Love will be evaluative, but also visionary. “Thanks to the festival museum, we have provided fans with a unique insight into history. But at the same time, we don’t want to drown in nostalgia, so we’re already looking to the next years,” says the director of the festival, Kamil Rudolf. People can experience that “lookin into the future“ in teh area by themselves. The area is the largest one in terms of space that it has ever been. In addition, the organizers prepared a new form of the Zion stage designed for reggae and jungle styles, as well as the concept of districts – so-called districts. “We are preparing several of them for the future, but this year we will offer fans a look at the molten district near the D&B stage. The space will be dedicated to light and fire,” promises the festival’s art director Tomáš Nezval. And Kamil Rudolf adds: “I am really looking forward to the visitors seeing the illuminated blast furnace buildings. I think it will be a novelty for the performers as well. It’s something that hasn’t really been here before…”
Legendary hitmaker David Guetta is coming
The aforementioned performers will attract tens of thousands of fans to Dolní Vítkovice during four days and nights. Just look at the list of stars coming to Ostrava this year: Lost Frequencies, Chase & Status, Roger Sanchez, Eric Prydz and probably the most famous DJ in the world, Frenchman David Guetta. “It took us eight years of trying. He will bring a really special show, during which he will play hits with billions of plays on the Internet,” says Beats for Love program director Jiří Ramík. Guetta will set a symbolic end to the 10th edition of the festival on Saturday.
But it’s not just about the headliners, the entire program is packed like a wallet after the payday. In total, over 500 artists of all kinds of genres of electronic dance music will perform.
And for a program worthy of a jubilee birthday, the organizers also offer the second year of the Talking Beats conference. This year it is divided into three days, from Thursday to Saturday. The space – the control room of the coke plant – is also new. “Last year’s tremendous success pleases us, but at the same time obliges us. We have prepared a number of interesting topics. We will offer a behind-the-scenes closer look at our festival, we will talk about the combination of work as a musician and parenthood, and we will also try to offer guidance on how to become a well-known artist,” the creator of Talking Beats, Miroslav Ecker, also known under the pseudonym DJ EKG, entices fans.
Attention – this year in Ostrava you can pay cashless!
In addition, jubilee Beats for Love is accompanied by new merchandising, more relaxation zones for visitors, more spacious passages between individual scenes and fewer queues for refreshments. In cooperation with the general partner ČSOB bank, the organizers prepared a cashless system for the first time in history. It will be used for all payments in the area and all festival campsites. “Most of our fans wanted to pay by card, mobile phone or watch already in the past. And this year, the time has come to introduce a cashless system. Queues at ATMs will disappear for good, and I believe that even longer waits for food and drink will disappear too,” hopes Kamil Rudolf.
Those ones who do not want to pay digitally may use a prepaid card, which they can “top up” with money in cash or with another classic card. Visitors of Beats for Love can also find all the details in the festival newspaper, which will be available not only at the entrance to the Dolní Vítkovice area
In the festival newspaper, you will also find information about this year’s Beats for Charity project. The visitors will help children from the Moravian-Silesian region again, specifically nine-year-old Isabel from Petrovice and seven-month-old Dorian from Havířov. The goal is to beat the last year’s record, during which fans sent 600,000 crowns to charity.
You can still get the last tickets – including the VIP ones – in advance and on the spot
The gates of the 10th edition of the largest domestic festival and the most prominent electronic dance music event in Central Europe will open on Wednesday at 4 p.m. While the organizers warn against buying “second-hand” tickets, the official advance sale has the last tickets left. The last 5% or so of tickets for the entire festival are available, one-day tickets are still on sale (and will also be available at the box office).
And thanks to the creation of another VIP zone – and thus also the release of one-day and four-day VIP tickets – even more visitors can enjoy their best four days of the year. According to estimates, a total of more than 160,000 people should arrive at the site in Dolní Vítkovice this year.
Dear visitors and fans, please enjoy the big birthday celebration of Beats for Love. Because you can touch the festival sky in Ostrava at the beginning of July.
